FinTech Female Fridays: Meet Alice Wyatt, VP Marketing at Codat

"When challenges arise, don’t hide behind complexity; go back to the fundamentals to drive clarity and momentum."

Alice Wyatt’s path to fintech is a unique one. She began by studying cell biology, later transitioning into executive headhunting for tech companies. It was through this journey that she discovered her passion for tech, ultimately leading her to a Sales Development role at a high growth software company. Since then, she hasn’t looked back.

Over the last eight years, Alice has held leadership positions across marketing and BDR (Business Development Representative) teams at VC-backed startups like Codat and Bloomreach, as well as publicly listed companies like Adyen. Today, she’s the VP of Marketing at Codat, where she is breaking down the silos between marketing, sales, and BDR.

Looking back, the best job decision Alice made was starting out as a Sales Development Representative (SDR), a role that gave her first-hand experience in the fast-paced world of sales. This shaped her belief that success is rooted in simplicity, especially when pressure mounts. For Alice, "the boldest and most effective approach is often to simplify. Instead of relying on complex tech stacks, [her team] focused on basics—like putting up a whiteboard in the office to track progress. It created an energy that brought the team together to achieve [their] goals.”

Throughout her career, Alice has never stopped pushing herself to improve. Recently, she’s embraced a powerful mindset shift:

"My team’s success is intertwined with the company’s success. It’s not enough for just one department to hit their numbers—true impact happens when the entire organization thrives."

This new perspective drives her to step beyond her role, and she seeks out opportunities to contribute wherever she can. Though taking on more accountability and responsibility can be daunting, Alice finds it deeply rewarding to see the bigger picture come together. She feels this holistic mindset has helped her to not only accelerate her career but to also support her company's success.

Where you currently live: Chelsea, NY with my two massive cats!

Hometown: London, UK

A project you tried but failed at:

I was encouraged to try cooking, and I can confirm I am really bad at it.

Important lessons learned:

  • Asking basic questions

  • Pushing for clarity over complexity

  • A team's success is directly tied to a company's success

Daily Diary

5:45 AM: I wake up and check Slack (which I know is really bad, but most of my team is online in the UK!).

7:00 AM: I head to the cold plunge, where I alternate between an hour-long sauna and cold plunge. It makes me feel alive and reminds me I can do hard things!

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM: I get to the office in Flatiron and work. I have a lot of calls in the morning with the UK team, and afternoons are usually for focused work.

5:30 PM - 6:30 PM: I've recently joined a new athletic club where we wear all black and work out as a squad! It’s very New York!

7:00 PM: I go out for dinner with friends (I have one pan, and cooking isn’t my thing!).

12:00 AM: I chat with my cats (trying hard to establish myself as a crazy cat person), and then I’m in bed by midnight.
